About Clarke Allen
As a true-blue serial entrepreneur whose brain is wired for curiosity, innovation and creativity, Clarke loves generating new ventures and designing new ideas for the marketplace. In 1994 Clarke founded Charlotte Arrangements, an event planning and production company, followed by Creatrix Design in 1997, a fabrication and graphic design company. Recognizing the need for a stylish venue in Charlotte’s upcoming arts district of NoDa (North Davidson), Clarke opened CenterStage@NoDa, a 10,000 square foot event venue in 2006. In 2008, wanting to give back to the community, Clarke founded Legacy Charitable Partners, a fundraising and consulting firm for non-profits. Since 2010, all the companies have combined under the flagship, Clarke Allen Events.
While building his businesses, Clarke underwent a process of personal growth during a very low period when he realized that it was time for him to take a hard look at his life and examine how he perceived himself and how others perceived him. Through this process and better understanding of the process, he wrote The Inevitable Box: A Quest for Significance. Along his journey he found that what he had always sought, significance, could only be found through serving others. Today, Clarke takes his message to a variety of excited audiences, and tells the story of his changed life and how he was able to face the man in the mirror and finally re-imagine a man of his own choosing.
Clarke knows that success personally and professionally comes from seeking mindfulness, balance in mind, body, spirit and focusing on authenticity in all his relationships. Clarke never stops learning and striving to be the best version of himself possible. He enjoys reading, working out, yoga and weight training along with preparing delectable culinary treats for his friends and family. Clarke loves the beach and spending time with loved ones, especially his two boys, Carson and Cooper.
“I have known and admired Clarke Allen for over three years. His creativity is supported by determination to see a project through to a successful finish. I have utter confidence in any plan Clarke Allen presents. I know the job will be well done in the right time and with reliable quality.”
— Maya Angelou
Dr. Angelou once said, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” This message so resonated and inspired Clarke in his own speaking and teaching opportunities both locally and nationally. Along with his many years of teaching a successful event planning course at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, he also created his own event workshop, called The Event Design Experience (TEDE) and offers it to those who seek to start or grow an event business, corporate event planners responsible for their company’s events, and do-it-yourselfers who want to know how to create and execute their own fabulous events.
Not only is Clarke passionate about the event business and what he can offer to those interested in the industry, he is also passionate about the journey of entrepreneurship itself. Clarke believes that we often lose our identity in creating a business and he is on the path to claim his re-imagined identity and is excited to share his methods with others. Clarke has developed what he calls, “Growthshops” to facilitate hands-on strategies and techniques to assist groups who desire clarity of purpose and perspective in their lives.
Clarke’s exciting and rewarding Beyond the Box seminars and classes help entrepreneurs and business people access real personal and professional change management. Clarke’s greatest joy is in helping others use a model that he has designed that aids in interrupting negative, “go to” reactions and teaches how personal choice in action leads to much better outcomes and more rewarding interactions with others personally and professionally.
